Sites for Little Ones

Here you'll find a list of sites to keep your little ones occupied.  Most of these children sites either contain useful information or are just filled with fun!  Take your time to explore them.

Sesame Workshop - Sesame Street (Official Sesame Street Site)

Suitable for: Babies, infants, toddlers

A "must visit" site for Sesame Street fans.  Site is packed with games, stories, art, music and many more to keep your kids entertained.  Do remember to check out the parents' corner which has tons of useful advice and activities suggestions for baby and kids.  But be prepared to wait a little while as the site takes some time to load for certain sections.

PBS Kids: Sesame Street

Suitable for: Babies, infants, toddlers

A nicely done site by PBS (Public Broadcasting Service, made up of public television stations all across the U.S.).  Contains interactive sections such as "Letter of the Day", "Number of the Day", "Journey to Ernie", "Elmo's World".

Official Barney the Dinosaur Website

Suitable for: Babies, infants, toddlers

An interactive site offering different activities for the kids, ranging from games, video clips, crafts, read along books and more.  Check out the activities suggested in the Parents and Educators sections and try them out with your kids.

PBS Kids: Barney and Friends

Suitable for: Babies, infants, toddlers

A site by PBS.  Have lots of stories, songs, games and coloring pages to keep your kids busy.  There are also some suggested activities for you to carry out with your kids under the "Parents & Educators" link.

Official Hi5 Website

Suitable for: Babies, infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers

The official site of one of the most successful kids group, Hi5.  Their shows are so entertaining that even adults will be drawn to them.  You can learn about the crew, send an e-card using your kid's favorite Hi5 characters, download Hi5 wallpapers and screensaver (I bet your kids will love this if they're Hi5 fans), listen to the different Hi5 songs, play games, etc.  Just explore the site to find out for yourself.

PBS Kids: Between the Lions

Suitable for: Toddlers, pre-schoolers

This is one of the good shows to teach older kids on reading.  This site by PBS features the different stories covered in the TV series.  The parent can read the stories to the child followed by a suggested game after each story.  There are also games, songs and a lot of printables which can be used for different activities.  As with other PBS sites, there is also a Parents & Teachers link which covers lots of useful information, especially the teacher's handbook for enhancing reading curriculum.

Crayola Creativity Central

Suitable for: Toddlers, pre-schoolers

You need to register (it's free to register) to access the various coloring pages, activities and art & craft ideas.  As with most children sites, there are sections for parents/educators to get great ideas on what activities to carry out with your little ones.

The Big Bang (Series 9, previous series)

Suitable for: Pre-schoolers, Kids, Adults

I got to know this program from Kids Central (Singapore).  It captures my attention because it is fully packed with interesting knowledge and activities/games which you can DIY.  You will be able to find some of the projects shown in the TV shows from their various websites.  Do try out some of their "Things to make", pretty interesting and fun for your kids!  They are bound to love the new games you create for them.

MysteryNet's Kids Mysteries

Suitable for: Kids, Adults

Is your kid a born detective? Let him solve the mysteries from this site and see how good he gets.  There are also scary stories to read and magic tricks to learn.  You can get great party ideas here if you're throwing a party for older kids.  Learn some of the magic tricks yourself and amaze the kids!
